Rebel Series Video
Narrative Systems Design • Product Experience
Overview
The REBEL Lineup Video was developed to present the Rebel series as a rugged, production-ready lighting platform built for real-world environments.
Rather than positioning the fixtures as standalone products, the video frames them within the context of a real working crew goofing off, preparing, testing, and ultimately executing a live show. The goal is to reinforce audience perception of Rebel’s core attributes—reliability, versatility, and professional trust—through a narrative that reflects how the fixtures are actually used in the field.
Problem
While the Rebel lineup is defined by strong product capabilities, communicating its value as a cohesive system, not just individual fixtures, required a clearer narrative.
As a result:
-
Product messaging risked becoming segmented by fixture type and specifications
-
Functional strengths were present, but not unified into a single story
-
The real-world workflow of crews using the fixtures was not fully expressed
Without a narrative structure, the lineup could be understood technically, but not experienced as a complete platform that professionals rely on.
Insight
The strength of the Rebel series lies not only in individual fixture performance but in how the lineup functions together under real production conditions.
By grounding the narrative in a live production scenario and showing everything come together in the final moment, the system becomes visible, connecting reliability, setup, QC, and performance into a single, cohesive, and fun experience.
Approach
-
Designed a human-centered, production-based narrative
-
Structured the story around a working crew, moving from setup through execution to reflect real-world use.
-
-
Unified the fixture lineup
-
Positioned Profile, Wash, Line, and Dartz fixtures as part of a single design philosophy rather than isolated products.
-
-
Translated features into use cases
-
Aligned product capabilities with moments in the workflow, including testing, deployment, and show conditions, so features are demonstrated, not just stated.
-
-
Developed a complete A/V framework
-
Created a full script package, including narrative treatment, voiceover, and audio/visual structure, to guide production from concept through execution.
-
Outcome
-
Crafted and established a clear narrative that presents Rebel as a cohesive lighting platform
-
Aligned product messaging with real-world production workflows
-
Provided a structured A/V script to support efficient filming and editing
-
Strengthened the connection between product capabilities and practical application
Key Takeaway
Product systems are easier to understand when you show them in use, not just talk about them, turning features into part of a real, believable workflow people can actually picture using.
